Answer

The life span of a Tiel can be as high as into their early 20's. There is one Tiel that I currently know of who is over 30 right now but that is well above the average. The actual life span you can expect from your own Tiel has not much to do with those figures. It has far more to do with proper diet, proper care, making sure your bird is never exposed to many of the bird toxins we have in our homes and on having at the least, a well bird checkup once per year with a well qualified avian vet. Unfortunately most Tiels (and other parrots as well) don't make it much past their 5th or 6th year, if that long, due to lack of understanding by the owner of exactly what constitutes proper diet and care. I hope this answers your question but if not or if you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask. Patricia
