I have a pine & oak back yard but it has poison ivy & ferns growing all over. I would like to eliminate all growth and leave just the pine needled forest floor, pines and oaks. I am trying Round-Up but with the recent rains just some of the ivy is drying but the ferns are still going strong. Is there something I can use to rid all of the ivy & ferns yet not affect the pines and oaks?

I have a pine & oak back yard but it has poison ivy, ferns and bittersweet growing all over. The ferns hide the poison ivy and if one walks there, they will surely get poison ivy on their clthes, shoes etc. I would like to eliminate all growth and leave just the pine needled forest floor, pines and oaks. I am trying Round-Up but with the recent rains just some of the ivy is drying but the ferns are still going strong. Is there something I can use to get rid all of the ivy, ferns, bitter sweet and yet not affect the pines and oaks?

Ortho Brush B Gon Poison Ivy Killer, use gently if close to ground plants, will kill poison ivy but not trees it grows around. Its stronger than round up, ortho has 8% and round up has 2% of the active chemical that kills the poison ivy. Or you can pull them out but thats not fun.
good luck
hope this gets it all this time

They'll be fine as long as you push them away when spraying, or place some plastic (from a matress or painters sheet) on the plants you dont want sprayed.

Reply to Layla's Post: Sorry about the confusion but I "WANT" to get rid of the ferns....I like the bare pine needle forest floor but the foliage growing on the forest floor are poison ivy, ferns, and bitterseet. My intention is to eliminate "all" foliage and leave just the fallen pine needles. I appreciate your time and response. Thanks!
