Relist: I still need help.
This is for Michael L. I have tried all the things that you suggested except for using the windows ME start up disc as I don't have one.
I was able to go to the add/remove program and highlight and all the rest of it but it still didn't work but it is a liitle different now, it mainly comes up n ow when I am go off the internet and sometimes the only way to stop it is to turn the computer off. Other than that it is still saying that microsoft internet explorer has an error etc etc. I am quite happy for you to take the $10.00 still in my account but this is getting very frustrating now. Would a windows me start up disc be very expensive? I bought this computer with it already installed on it.
I am going into places in the computer I didn't know where there so if nothing else, I am learning about the computer and you must be tearing your hair out by now with this problem
any further help you can give me would be greatly appreciated   Thanks Jill

Hi and Welcome Back to Just Answer,
Ok,
Fortunately Jill, I am going bald, so what little hair I can pull out, is a refreshing memory of that one day I had hair.

Go to this site you can down load to your computer free a ME start up disk,
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
Scroll down to the one that says ME OEM;
Click on the Windows ME link, download this to your desktop or somewhere you know you can find it, you will then need a floppy disk for your A Drive.
Follow the instructions, and you know have a start up disk.
Then start at step 7 and continue through the rest of the instructions above. Like I have told you take your time and relax, I am here when you need more help.

If there is anything else let me know, or click accept. Thanks Michael L

Reply to Michael L's Post: Hello Michael L, this is your worst nightmare again, You would have thought that at 61 I could follow instructions but apparently no.
I have done as you said and I now have ME on a floppy disc.I also have an icon that says bootme-exe.
When I go to my computer to bring up the floppy I get a heap of diferent things one square says command and when I click on it I get a block screen with the words MS-dos prompt.

If I try to use that it tells me "bad command or file name"
I also have another icon on my desktop that says 1E7BETA2-
I am sorry I thought I was following you to the letter but I must be doing something wrong.
When I click onto the icon, then my computer with the floppy disc on it that's when I get the black screen.
Have you ever had someone as stupid as I am, I certainly hope not anyway I will wait for your reply Regards JILL
