No, it is strictly the dog's very own problem.
Disease may be an unfortunate word. To me it does signal something resulting from an outside cause.
Autoimmune problems are aberrations in the animal's, or person's own immune system that causes it to develop an immune response to some of it's own proteins. Absolutely not contageous...it won't rub off.
Sort of like a vaccine against itself. (as with all analogies, this is not exactly correct, but hope you get the picture. ;-))
