If the kittens are 10 days or older, they should start opening their eyes soon. The best thing to do for now is to take a warm, damp cotton ball and try to remove most of the crust from the eyes. You may see a discharge begin to seep from the eyes when you soak them. This is the infection draining out. If they are under 10 days of age, your vet should definitely take a look at them. If they are older than 10 days and the eyes begin to open after soaking them with the warm water (sterile water is best), then you can apply some terramycin ointment to their eyes. You will need to continue cleaning the eyes and treating them until all signs of discharge are gone. As I almost always advise, your vet is the best person to evaluate this situation, however, I have been working with newborns for over 13 years and the terramycin is usually the answer. If they have discharge from their nose or seem to have problems breathing then you MUST take them to the vet immediately. Terramycin can be purchased at most large pet supply stores.
