hello there, i have a 1 yr old Rat terrior (male) and i am trying to breed him with a 1 yr old female Rat Terrior, she seems ready and eager but he really doesn't seem to interested, is there anything i can do to get him to breed with this dog?

Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: i think a few, the owner called me and said she is ready, the dogs have been together for the last 24 hours at there house with no success and now i have them both at my house, she is really swollen and seems to be ready

You really need to know how many days she has been in heat. Dogs start to swell and bleed on day one. But it's not until around day 9 until they will allow the male to mount. There's a good chance that you just have them together at the wrong part of the cycle.

They will usually start to allow the tie around day 9. Then you can get a tie anywhere from day 9 to day 14 or 15, depending on the female.
