Question

My Jack Russell is acting peculuar for a week now. He eats like a pig, drinks tons of water, urinates a lot and frequently and has somewhat runny stools. He mopes around the house when he's usually extremely hyper. If I take him outside to play ball, he's fine. He's 1 years old. I had him to the vet last Saturday because he is allergic to who knows what (worse in the warmer months) and chews his paws like crazy plus he was sick to his stomach on Saturday so I took him to the vet and he gave him a shot of antibiotic and a steroid shot (Wrigley, my dog, has gotten these shots before with no problems.) He is also taking prednisone for the chewing, etc. but he has been on that before, too, no problems.

He could have a UTI.

as far as the prednisone goes my mum had taken it several times with no issues but the last time she was on it it got to her. Here are the side effects....

hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
mental depression
mistaken feelings of self-importance or being mistreated
mood swings (sudden and wide)
redness, swelling, or other sign of allergy or infection at place of injection
restlessness
skin rash or hives

Additional effects:

Abdominal or stomach pain or burning (continuing)
acne

headache
irregular heartbeat
menstrual problems

The problems he is have in many ways match the issues he is having. It may be worth calling a vet. On the other hand if its hot inside the house he will drink and sleep more.
