Question

Good birthday gift ideas for the guy who has everything...

Sent to General Experts January 26, 2004 12:43 p.m.

Hi everyone,

I'm stumped... I have a buddy who I owe a big favor to (or a big present) who just had a birthday on Saturday. He's about 30, runs a hedge fund in NYC, works hard, is mostly single, etc...

I'm looking to pay about $100 and would love to buy something cool online somewhere.

Look at my rating, I will pay for a good answer!

Thanks for the quick answer! Well, I kind of want something quicker/easier since I'm now 2 days late and don't want his present to show up too slowly...

He plays some golf, but I don't think he loves it like most guys. He mostly just works these days. He does a lot of research (stocks) online... so, maybe we can help him with that angle?

Thanks!

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Well, I don't know what kind of guy he is . . . some won't like this, but sounds like what he needs is a day at the spa!

Some other options would be . . .

A bouquet of novelty items, candy, etc. We have a place here called "Candy Bouquet" and they will put together these really cool looking baskets and "bouquets" of various items . . . candy, cookies, and non-edible items.

If you're wanting to get him something work related, perhaps a computer program, some kind of software or something. If he likes computer games, it could be something like that.

Hmmm . . . guys are hard unless you know them, but I will try to think of some other options.

You're on the right track! The basket idea and spa would be great for most of my friends, but this guy's a little too much of a guy's guy and might not like it.

I was thinking of some kind of researcher's must have tool, or something? He already has bloomberg and all that kind of stuff. Is there a must have kind of gift that he would like? Hmmm... Maybe I"ll just get him a $100 gift certificate on ExpertAsk!? :-)

Hi gregorya,

Just accepted your answer. I'll probably end up getting him the ExpertAsk gift certificate and maybe the skeet shooting... Terl, if you can find me a reasonable spot in NYC where my buddy can go skeet shooting, I'll accept your answer too.

Thanks!
