Answer

This site goes over the possibilites for surgical repair
www.marvistavet.com/html/body_ruptured_anterior_cruciate_lig.html
The pain meds should be keeping her comfortable but not so comfortable she damages it more. Its a fine line on pain management as you can't tell a dog to be quiet and careful with a leg they don't know is sore.
Doing the repair sooner rather than later is better for the dog as there is less wear damage on the joint to deal with.
You may want to use glucosamine chondroitin to help with the cartilage and joint cushioning. Cosequin and Glycoflex are two good brands.
Hope this helps you!
