(I need a New York Times newspaper article )about the Speech Senator Robert La Follette gave in Minnesota in September, 1917 (I think).
The press stated La Follette defendes Lusitania sinking. To help you-Secretary of State Robert Lansing released to press text of an intercepted message that Germany's ambassador had sent to Berlin before America declared war, asking for $50,000. to influence Congress-   Newspapers splashed it across front pages implying La Follette was Germany's hired mouthpiece.
