Gardening.......I have wire baskets that will hold 4 pots. But only 8inch pots. What flower can I plant in the pots that will survive the summer in an 8inch pot? I live in zone 4.        Customer (name blocked for privacy)@mchsi.com

I believe that your question is raised, because with a small amount of soil it will cause the plants to dehydrate quickly. There is a filler that you can buy that is similiar to the filler in diapers. Take a look at this website. http://www.crystals.us/WSHousePlants.htm
Here are some plants to consider though.

Annuals: Abutilon, Bacopa, Callibrachoa-Million Bells, Coleus, Convolvulus, Dahlia, Fuchsia, Geranium, Herbs, Impatiens, Larkspur, Lobelia, Marigolds, Nasturtiums, Oxalis, Petunias, Scabiosa, Wave Petunias
Ornamental grasses, Herbs, Miniature Roses
Warm Season Vegetables: Tomatoes, Squash, Edible Flowers
