You may have some of the symptoms of the Dementia. Memory is the most common cognitive ability lost with dementia. 10% of the persons over 70 and 20-40% of the individuals over the age 85 have clinically identifiable memory loss.
Dementia has many causes. Treatable etiologies are present nearly in %20 of the patients. The most common potentially reversible causes are Depression, Hydroceohalus and Alcohol dependence. Guidlines recommend the routine measurment of Vitamin B12, Thyroid function test and CT or MRI of the head.
