Question

I have 3 turtles, 2 red earred sliders and 1 with yellow ears and stripes. They are 3 years old and very large. I've had them since they were the size of a quarter and are in a 100 gallon tank. My question is....The 2 red earred shells peel off on a regular bases. They come off like shingles of a roof. The shell itself is hard and there are no holes. The yellow earred one is fine. Is this normal or what can be the cause of this? I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you very much
