Question

when you purchase a radio to go in a hummer h2 and the locked word comes up on the face, what do you do to get it unlocked?

2003 Hummer H3 6.0

Already Tried:
We just tried to install the radio we purchased off of the internet from someone who put a custom setup in their hummer and did not need this one any longer. We have power to it but the message locked is all that comes up our manual says something about it being sensitive to the vin to deter theft would be's and we just need to know how to get the radio operational. Thanks, Priscilla

Answer

First once it is in the "lock" mode you will have to turn the key on engine off for one hour. Use a battery charger to ensure the battery does not run down. Then once you have that done you will have to get the Vin# of the vehicle the radio came from to purchase the code and instructions if its not RDS(if it is a dealer will have to do it). http://www.radio-code.com/Retrive%20code.htm It would be best to have a dealer reprogram the radio for your Vin # and unlock the radio.
