In 8 hours the the water level rose 6 inches <=> In 1 hour the water level reaches 6/8 inches. Assume it takes x hours to make it reach to 8 inches. Then we need to solve the following equation: (6/8)x = 8 <=> x = 8*8/6 = 32/3 = 10.67 hrs.

The tub holds 12*16*8 = 1536 cubic inches.
