Question

Hello:
I was wondering if there are any free or low-cost places on the internet offering to personally answer questions people may have on internet marketing. Specifically, questions regarding copywritng, how to successfully generate and maintain an opt-in list, advertising on a budget an search engine optimization. In the past, I have tried to go to the SBA for such advice, but the people there aren't too familiar with internet marketing, and aren't even familiar with concepts such as affiliates and affiliate programs! I have also found places on the internet offering similar services, but most offer "coaching" or "mentoring", which (at least for now), is not what I am looking for, just someone to answer questions I have. Also, most of the experts I found are quite expensive. While I am sure these people are worth their pay, I am trying to keep a budget until my online business is developed and takes off. What I guess what I am looking for is an "internet marketing helpline". If they also offer ways to affordably market my business offline, then that is an additional plus.

You may want to try web sites like www.ingenio.com or www.kasamba.com. I've dealt with both of these sites in the past.  I have received very positive results.  I realize that these sites you must pay for but they also offer a wide range of expert services.  Do some digging on the sites you might find a adviser that meets your needs.  Once you arrive on either of the sites you can search under keyword Internet marketing to find adviser's profiles which describe it degree of advice, and level of expertise.  As with anything shop around, and decide which adviser best suits your needs. I hope this helps.

Many colleges across the nation (often junior colleges) offer low-cost (sometimes even free!)  Microbusiness (sometimes called microenterprise) training and assistance.  Often low-interest small loans (sometimes called microloans) are available.  If direct loans are not available -- there is usually assistance to help you find/apply for such loans from other sources.

Listed below are some links to the Business Assistance Program at the University Of Illinois at Chicago (UIC):
