Question

I have a 99 Buick Regal. When I stop the car, put it in park and turn off the key I cannot get the key out of the ignition. I turn the wheel do not hear it lock in position. Sometimes it will eventually come out.

Accepted Answer

Two possible conditions: 1 the ignition switch is worn and the tumblers are hanging inside the housing. 2 the shifter interlock is not coming back to the unlock position. Both repairs require taking some of the steering column apart. I suggest letting a shop do this. Hope this helps click accept for me. Thanks.
