A MAC address is usually on the network card. Is yours really on the motherboard?
Answer
The MAC address can only help you get the manufacturer of the network interface on the board. To get the board manufacturer you'll need something specific to the board itself. Look around the board for a string of characters (letters and numbers). Specifically something that starts with letters and is at least 4 to 5 characters long. If you can find something like this write it down and do a Google search. It's a shot in the dark but if you happen to get the board model number it'll turn up on Google and you're home free.
Another way is to find the FCC ID number. Most all products available in the USA have an FCC ID number printed on them. If you can find this number you'll be able to lookup the manufacturer.
The number will look like this:
First three digits - Three character alphanumeric string representing the Grantee/Applicant (manufacturer). The Grantee Code always begins with an alphabetic character and does not contain the numbers one and/or zero.
Remaining digits: The Product Code is the non-grantee code portion of the FCC ID. The Product Code may include hyphens and/or dashes (-).
After locating this number write it down then get on the FCC's website and enter the information. The first three characters go into the first line of the form then the remaining characters go in the second line. Click "Start Search" and you'll be presented with the manufacturer's info. Here's a link to the FCC ID Search page:
https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm
If you can't find the FCC ID# then you may be limited to connecting up the motherboard so it will boot then booting into BIOS. There you'll also find the manufacturers info.
