REPLIED Check Mark

Here are two. The first runs on diesel and other fuels, and is made in India. Power is 2 to 3 HP

four stroke engine, small petrol engines, model petrol engines, diesel engines from india, kerosene run engines, portable 4-s...

If you are interested in something more powerful, made in the North America, and can stand a bit more weight, consider the Hatz 5 HP, weighing 34 kg:

Hatz Diesel Engine — 5 HP, Electric Start, 3/4in. x 2 7/16in. Shaft, Model# 1B20XES-9902 | Diesel | Northern Tool + Equipment

A US company called Mainstream recently demonstrated an award-winning 3.7 HP (2.8 kW) diesel generator weighing 36.5 lb (16.6 kg) for the Department of Defense. That engine is not commercially available. For more about it, see

Many thanks for your info.
I am looking for 3-5hp deisel engines to use on our tiller /cultivator.At present we use the
folloing :1 Petrol start-Kerosene Run Manufactured in India.
Diesel engine would be useful but got the problem of weight? they are heavy hence looking for Light -Weight around 20-25kg either mono cylinder
with RPM about 2800 to3000.and also commercially available and without any hassle of Import Regulation.Ofcourse the cost shouldn't be prohibtive as it is for agricultural/Horticultural use.Gratefulfor further Informations Regards doctorm1934@yahoo.com

ACCEPTED Check Mark

I agree that importing the Indian one might be a problem, but am not sure if emission control regulations apply to farm machinery and offroad vehicles. I know they are being very tough on marine/outboard engine emissions.

I think the Hatz engine might be your best bet, even though it is over your weight limit a bit. I would give both Hatz and Mainstream a call if I were you. I have gone as far as I can with your question. The search was fun and interesting. The press releases on the Mainstream engine were 4 years old; there might have been some commericalization about to happen.

I hope you choose to accept the level of effort already made, but that is your decision.
