Question

Hello, I four days ago I had some pain on the back of my tongue but it was more of a tingly feeling. Then yesterday and today the pain was under my tongue on the right side of my mouth. It hurts a lot more when I eat or drink or stretch my tongue. When I looked under my tongue there was a large dark area. What could this be? Thank you!

Hello,

This is likely to be an apthus ulcer, that is an area of broken mucous membrane that is painful to touch.

You need to take OTC Vitamin B complex supplements and try applying mouth ulcer gels that contain Benzocaine like Anbesol over the area, that would stop the pain and help this ulcer heal.

This makes sense. I read that a deficiency in vitamin B12 can cause other symptoms I have been suffering from. I am on depression and anxiety medication and I just recently got over an episode of severe constipation in which I had blood work and x-rays for. Thank you!
