Question

My 4 yr old dachsund (who was just nuetered 10 days ago) just had an erection the size of a hot dog. No exaggeration... the size of a hotdog. Is this a normal size. He's a rescue dog that I just got 5 days ago, so I don't have any background to base the size on. Thanks.

Optional Information

Pet's Sex: Male
Pet's Age: 4

Already Tried:
I called my vet, they said it sounds like an erection. Really... it seemed way too big for a 13 lb. dachshund

Accepted Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXXX~

Just like in humans, the size of a dog's penis can vary from individual to individual within a breed. As long as the erection has gone down, then it was probably simply his normal size.

I hope this helps.
