Info Request

Hi, I am Dr. Peter and would like to help. Need additional information.

1- How long has this been going on?

2- Besides the flurbiprofen have you tried other medications?

3- Have they checked for an ulcer?

She will be 17 on march 6th. It is an old ulcer that has reactivated. She started isolating herself about a moth ago, She has very bad allergies which include staph. My vet said it is something long named like a speculous. She said normally they'd operate, but because of her age, she doesn't want to do that. Today is the first day she isn't eating.

She was on allergy med.neo- polydex before this long term.

So, she does have an ulcer right now?

Reply

Yes, it is an active ulcer.

Answer

If the ulcer is not healing he can try other medications like Atropine in conjunction to gentocin opthalmic applying the gentocin every 3-4 hours. Another nonconventional method with non healing ulcers that works very well is to take some of her blood centrifuge and extract the serum. Then apply several drops 3 times a day in the ulcer.

If you have additional questions I will be online for another hour.

If we do the serum, how long should that be done?

Answer

She is an older cat so you can collect too much blood; 5-6 cc then allow to clot for at least 20 mins and centrifuge for 10 to 15 mins should give you 1-2 cc; then apply 1 or 2 drops. This works by using her same antibodies to fight the infection and heal the ulcer. I have used it many times with very favorable results.

Is this only done once? Thank you so much, Dr Peter!

Accepted Answer

It is done 3 times a day and see how she does in 1 week; if your vet needs a reference tell him/her to look up an article in "The Capsule Report."

Your Welcome.
