Do this for me real quick, it wont hurt your files on the computer:

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
  2. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  3. On the Select a Restore Point page, click a restore point when you e-mail would open. Click Next
Let me know what happens!

Hi again, I did as asked and of course lost you when the computer shut down and restarted. I still can not get mozilla thunderbird to open up. I need to speak with someone over the phone that can really help me. Sorry for the delay but had to go pick up kids from school. Please, I need some help.

Try this for me: Go to Start>Programs>Mozilla Thunderbird>Mozilla Thunderbird (Safe Mode).

Let me know if it opens in safe mode.

Due to the rules of the site we are not allowed to call customers. If you call a phone support site they will charge you at minimum, $75
Let's try a few more things

Praise the Lord! It worked. Is that going to be the only way I can get it open???

Posted by Josh H. 123 days and 8 hours ago.

Answer

This means you have an add-on installed that is killing it. In Thunderbird Safe Mode

  1. Click "Tools -> Add-ons
  2. Click on the Extensions or Themes button on the top.
  3. Click on the extension or theme you want to uninstall.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. Restart
Uninstall all the add ons and try to open it normally

Ok, things still are not the way they should be. Something happened and now I no longer have the safe mode on my display. I am about to give up.

No I have not. If I do that will it destroy my address book? Do I need to save that somewhere? Do I need to uninstall the one that is already on my computer first?

Use this to back everything up: CLICK HERE

After that just do a reinstall without uninstalling the current thunderbird.

I still don't see the safe mode that we discussed earlier today. I can get into it now but I am not able to see any of the folders such as inbox, trash etc. How do I get these things back?

Did you get the backup made?

The folders should be there. The simplest thing that comes to mind is that the pane has been shrunk to zero. At the left hand edge of the Thunderbird window will be a vertical
border. Click and drag to the right to expand the pane. Let me know if the folders are there.

Thank you, got them, now why did that safe mode disappear?

More than likley since you don't have addons installed anymore it is not an option. I bet if you installed an add on it would come back as an option again. I not 100% sure though!

So is everything working now?
