Question

Hi, my samsung flat screen tv will not turn on. When I press the on button in the centre of the tv at the bottom, it just keeps making a clicking noise. It is the same click as when the tv is normally turned on but instead of a click and then on it now just keeps making the clicking noise every 2 seconds. What can I do?

It is indeed. it is a UK model

Accepted Answer

Okay, thank you. The problem is very likely caused by a bad power supply. The power supplies in these later model Samsung TVs are failing rather quickly and can cause the problem you are seeing (very common).

Since this is a UK model, I am unable to look up the specifics: part numbers, prices, suppliers, etc.

However, you probably will not have to replace the supply: it is very likely that only the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply are bad (very common on Samsung). If these capacitors have swollen or dried, simply replacing these may repair the power supply. If you wish to repair this yourself, soldering equipment and very good soldering skills are required to change these parts. Also, most of these TVs are now using lead-free solder for assembly.

If a local shop were to replace just the capacitors, the repair cost should be in the $100-125USD range (in my area) if taken into the shop.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can help in any way.
