Question
I believe I need help from a construction person. I live in Kirkland, WA and I am an elderly physically disabled home maker. I signed a contract that includes Arbitration. My project was intended to give me greater freedom to leave my home to pick up the mail and visit neighbors but I now find that there are MORE physical barriers than I had before the project began. It included the installation of a prefabricated wheel chair lift as I can no longer manage stairs or even a long ramp. However I cannot get my new electric wheel chair onto the lift as there are construction problems. The the eyes of the Construction manager the project is almost finished. In my eyes and heart, I am less free than before. In heart and mind the spirit of the project has NOT been accomplished. I believe I must act soon but I do not know where to start. Thank you, XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Your first step is to put your complaints in writing to the company. You need to be specific and indicate the corrective measures that need to be taken. List them item by item and the problems with each item. You have to give the contractor the time and opportunity to cure. Get some assistance from someone to help you write the letter if necessary but you do not need an attrorney at this stage. You also need to withhold payments until you are satisfied. Payment may mean acceptance.
