Answer

You can send them an official/certified letter stating that if they do not move the property within a period of time, typically 30 days, you will call a charity and donate the property to them (there is a two-fold reason for donation as first, you cannot be accused of keeping the property and profiting off it, and secondly you get a receipt from the charity showing that the item was properly donated for your personal records).

Sincerely,

XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXX, Esq.

Could I just let it sit where it is at now?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can--if it is your property that it is on, absolutely.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXX, Esq.
