Info Request

Can you tell me what indicator light came on? Is it a check engine light or a maintenance required light?

Sorry, It is the airbag indicator light. it came on this weekend. I drove through some thick mud, and it may have knocked something loose up front? that is the only thing i can think of.

Answer

Ok. More than likely, you have damaged one of the ABS sensors. These sensors are mounted near the brakes and rotors. If you were driving through mud, either one of the sensors was clogged up or the "ring" that the ABS sensors reads got clogged up. Unfortunately, you will need access to a scan-tool that can read ABS codes to firgure out what exactly is going on under there. Most local AutoZone parts stores will read these codes for you for Free in hopes of selling you the part/sensor you will need to make the repair. You will also need to have access to this scan-tool to clear the codes as well. If you have cleared the mud from the area around the sensor, and it has not cleared the light by itself, there is going to b e a problem under there that is going to need to be addressed.

I will start with autozone to see if they can help the situation. I have sprayed the underside of the truck mutiple times, but there is still debris caked underneath. if you can give me any insight of what the sensor looks like , it may help.

thanks again.

If you still have stuff caked up under there, more than likely, the sensors are not reading their sensor rings. On worst case, the ABS sensor got so packed it just faulted. Also check the electrical wires going to the sensors for breaks, this will also cause the sensor to fault. Here are the locations of the sensors:
