Question

I'm not sure if my dog ( 97 lb. black lab mutt) ingested "Just One Bite." Is there a household item, like milk, I can give him just in case? It had been laid out in the attic but I found a chunk of it in my backyard. What are the possible symptoms if he did ingest some of it? Any advice would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

I assume just one bite is a rodenticide?

How long ago do you think he ate it?

How is he acting now?

Let me know and I will try to help........

"Just One Bite" is a rodenticide that was laid out in my attice. He may have ingested it approximately 10-15 minutes ago. The reason why I am not sure is that I heard something drop onto my deck, looked out the window and saw my dog standing over a chunk of the stuff. I have no idea how it got into the yard/deck area but seized the chunk and threw it away. He is acting completely fine. Thanks.

Thank you for the additional information. The best thing to do is to get your dog to the nearest emergency hospital IMMEDIATELY!!! They can induce vomiting, give activated charcoal and vitamin K and check his clotting times. If his clotting times are normal, they will likely send him home with a prescription of vitamin K and will want to recheck his clotting times several more times. Rodenticides can kill a dog, and they sometimes have no obvious symptoms until days to weeks after ingestion. At this time, it is usually too late because the damage is done to the liver and kidneys. Having your dog seen right away can make a world of difference and can save you hundreds of dollars in hospitalization and blood transfusions. Please see the following website for more informaton on rodenticide toxicity.
