Question

When we start the car, it sounds like a rattle, but it goes away. We've checked the power steering, water pump, alternator, air conditioner--any of that stuff that runs off the belts. We had the recall (o-ring off the oil pump in the pan) taken care of. What could be the problem?

Accepted Answer

HI XXXXXXXXXXXX; IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD BE THE LIFTERS, IF THE STORE DOESN'T WORK YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF TO GET SOME GUNK ENGINE CRANK CASE FLUSH. YOU RUN THE ENGINE WITH THE FLUSH IN IT FOR 30 TO 45 MINUTES, THEN DRAIN OIL CHANGE FILTER, AND INSTALL NEW OIL. IF ENGINE HAS VERY HIGH MILEAGE I WOULD USE 15/40 OR 20/50 INSTEAD OF 10/30. YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY. THANK YOU FOR USEING JUST ANSWER. THANK YOU, XXX XXXXXX
