a canadian citizan may stay in the usa for up to six months,can they return to canada and then return to usa right away, or is there a time limit before rentry back to the usa.

Thank you for your question.
Every time you exit the US and reenter the six-month period restarts. It is not necessary that you return to Canada. You can exit the US for any international destination and a new six-month period will start when you reenter the US.
