Could you tell me exactly where these lumps are? Are they on the posterior side, just above the base of the testicle?

Answer

Hello; Thank you for writing in today. These lumps are most likely part of the epididymis. The epididymis is divided in sections. The distal section, the globus minor, can actually swell. When the epididymis swells, it can appear to be located on the base of the testes. At this point, you need to have this evaluated for a couple of reasons. First of all, any change in the testicles should be reported and evaluated. This is particularly important because men in your age group are the at risk group for testicular cancer, so all changes need to be evaluated. Also, if this is possibly related to some epididymis swelling, you need to be evaluated for infection. Generally, infection is painful; however, it is not always painful, so it is still a possibility. I hope this helps to answer your question. Lisa
