why is my vw sharan using more fuel since replacing the fuel filter? there is no sign of diesel leeking from any of the filter connections.

Good morning, I hope I can help you.

 

Replacing the fuel filter should have no bearing on the fuel consumption of the engine if there is no leak present.

 

That means either it isn't using more fuel or if it is then there is something else causing it.

 

The best thing to do is put it on a suitable scanner to check all the sensors are ok and also carry out an emissions test.

 

This should highlight any problems.

when i fill the tank up now it tells me there is 520 miles in the tank and it used to tell me there was 565 and according to the trip computer i am only getting 31 mpg
