Hello,
Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. The fluids are serum from the blood and fluids from her immune system. The fluids should go from more whitish to clearer as the drainage stops over the next few days. Then they will remove the drain tube.
It's part of the normal process of healing. That is why the drain tube is there, so those fluids won't accumulate under the skin.
It's not either one. Most all surgeries require a drain tube to remove excess serous fluid from the area that was operated on. It is what is supposed to happen after a surgery and is completely normal. Have you ever cut your finger, and noted that first it bleeds?. Then after the bleeding stops you will get a yellowish to clear fluid from the cut edges? That is exactly what happens during surgery, except there is a lot more fluid due to the larger area that was cut during the procedure, and it takes longer for that fluid to drain out. It is drained because we don't want it to accumulate around the area and perhaps get infected from skin bacteria.
Yes. It will keep draining as long as it is healing.
