Answer

Usually if its a less serious problem such as the solenoids the check engine light will come on. The check engine light will come on if it notices somethign wrong that is electronically monitored. I would start by replacing the the transmission fluid and filter and if that doesnt help you could get a used valve body from www.car-parts.com to see if that helps if problem still exists then the transmission itself likely needs to be replaced. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

Answer

You would need to do a resistance test on the solenoids to see if one of them is off. I do not think the solenoid is the problem though because they are electronically monitored so if the solenoid was the problem your check engine light would turn on. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.

BEFORE I SPEND THOUSANDS ON A TRANSMISSION IS THERE A TEST FOR THAT ? BECAUSE ONCE YOU GO TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP. YOUR ARE MORE THAN DEFINITELY GETTING A NEW TRANSMISSION.

Accepted Answer

There are really not tests other then making sure the linkage is adjusted right and I would first replace the valve body with a used one and do a transmission flush, this will save alot of money if it fixes the problem and shouldnt cost much to attempt. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks.
