Question

My company was informed by someone that a lawsuit / complaint has been filed with the SEC and that the "plaintiffs" have been deposed. Is there anywhere I can find out if a suit or complaint has been filed against us?

I am guessing in New York. That is where the upset people live.

Is this a civil lawsuit or an administrative action or do you know? Pete

I do not know yet. The person who mentioned this to us basically said they would like to see people go to jail?? So I'm assuming it wouldn't be civil.

Accepted Answer

The entire United States District Court system now has online public access. Since you are asking about an SEC issue, I assume this is a federal question and the action is filed in federal court. You can search in a particular state or district or conduct a broader name search as well. The pacer system can be found at:

http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/

The SEC also publishes active enforcement action and lawsuits through its own website. You can view this website at:

http://www.sec.gov/litigation.shtml

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need additional assistance.

Pete
