I am replacing the steering rack on a 1988 Mazda 323. I have it disconnected but can't figure out how to remove it from the car.

The whole assembly just slides out the drivers side of the vehicle, you may need to turn or twist it to get around things.

Once I get the rack out, do I measure between the tie-rod ends on the removed rack in order to keep the toe-in the same.

I usually count the turns/revolutions but you should still have the toe/alignment set because all racks are or can be a bit different.
