Question

After an update to Windows Vista Home Basic yesterday, Windows will not load. It is hanging up at the welcome screen. I sent a question to Microsoft service using e-mail. They were supposed to respond within 24 hours, but I haven't heard anything 30 hours later. Any ideas.

Ok. Please repeat this process except this time choose "Safe mode." Also, do you have a vista installation disk? We may need this to reapair some files if the following doesn't work. Thank you. Austin

Sweet!! Looks like everything is back to normal. One Question: The updates happen automatically. How do I refuse an update if they want to do this to me again? Thanks.

Accepted Answer

One problem might be that we don't what update caused it. If it was just one update, you can determine this by checking what updates were installed. If it installed many, it will be hard to tell which one caused the problem. When you see this screen on the update screen (which you can find through the control) http://kevinharder.com/images/blog/WindowsLiveWriter/TheFirstVistaUpdates_FC86/VistaUpdates1[8].jpg You can choose to view available updates. From there you can de select any updates you don't want. This should take care of it. Good luck. Austin
