Question

My 7 year old male cat has been on a dry food diet only since he was a kitten. That is what the breeder told us to do. I have just been told by a new veterinarian that I should switch him to wet food only. How can I do this? I have tried giving him wet food in the past and he simple won't touch it. I certainly don't want to put his health at risk. Please help.

Answer

Hello there,

An all wet food diet is not necessary. It has more water in it, which is good for the kidneys, but it is bad for the teeth. You can add canned food to the dry food by mixing them together. If he won't eat the mixed food, stick with the dry. My cats are ten years old and I never feed them canned food.
