Answer

Hi XXXXXX

Take the pins out of the door hinges. Put the door on a pair of saw horses or other elevated surface. Measure from the top of the door jamb to the top of the rug in each corner then transfer those measurments to the door then subtract at least 1/2" to allow for rug clearance. Before you transfer the measurements put duct tape along the bottom edge of the door where the cut will fall. Then strike a line between the 2 corner points and cut with a circular saw or a hand saw.

Do you put the duct tape on both sides of the door where the cut will be?

Accepted Answer

It is only necessary on the top side but you can wrap it all the way around the door. The tape is to minimize tearout (splintering) if you use a circular saw
