It could be Giardia but I would consider other things as well such as H.Pylori or gastritis. You would need to do stool cultures for positive diagnosis of Giardia. You really want a positive before you just treat for it.
H. Pylori is tested by breathing into a bag after drinking some liquid. That is the most accurate way to test for it other than by a scope that is ran down the esophagus into the stomache.
I certainly would follow up with you primary care provider on this as either one can get severe. You may need to be referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist.
