Do I have to uninstall iTunes to upgrade from Vista 32-bit to windows 7?

Already Tried:
I tried to backup my iTunes library and playlists and iTunes crashed in the middle of the 4th CD, and won't even let me chose that option now. ( I ran the microsoft upgrade advisor and it recommended the uninstall.)

Answer

I suggest backing up music, after upgrade reintstall Itines with the current version.
As far as backup I suggest to copy to external Hard Drive media, like USB its really cheap this days.

We wanted to save the playlists, etc. like iTunes is supposed to be able to do but the save crashed half way through and now the backup option is frozen. My daughter has 5GB of music in iTunes... So you are recommending the uninstall of iTunes before the windows 7 upgrade because...?

Because you can isntall clean version that works and new version of itunes.
You can also install free registry cleaner ccleaner and run that first maybe it might fix that issue and you might not need to upgrade, you really have other options to actually come back to previous state when everything was working, let me know if you need procedure for that.
