Good afternoon,

You asked: What is the fastest, least expensive way to get a divorce when there is no property, no children, I do not know where he is and have not had contact for over 7 years. I live in Washington DC.

There is not such animal as an inexpensive divorce. However, it should be pretty quick. Since you don't know where he is, you will motion the court, after filing for divorce, for an order allowing you to publish the summons in the local newspaper. After a month or so service will be good and then, after another month, you can file for a default divorce.

Get an attorney to help you as the paperwork is fairly complicated. The entire thing should cost $1,000 to about $2,000 including court costs.

I wish you well.

Thank you very much for having allowed me to assist you. It would be greatly appreciated if you would click the green Accept icon so that I can receive credit for having assisted you.

Best regards,

Doug
