how do we switch our dell insprion notebook to a exterior monitor?

I have hooked up the monitor went to control panel yo display and added #2 montor it gave me the screen on the external monitor but not the desktop or mouse.

WE're using XP and want to use it as it as the primary .

Right click on your desktop background click on settings click on the number 2 monitor then at the bottom click on "use this as the primary monitor".

This did not work when we RT clicked on desktop it brought up our desktop settings when we clicked on proerties then it brought up new screen then when we clicked on settigs it showed 1 and 2 when we clicked on 2 and then cliicked use this as my primary my external monitor went black and the monitor said no signal

Did you also select Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor?

Yes and the scrren lit up on my external monitor then when I clikecd on make this my prmary it made my external go black and the external then said no signal.

Thank you for the quick reply. Please try to Lowering the resolutoin on Monitor 2 then see if the it still says No Signal.

If that doesn't work then close out of the display properties and right click on your desktop background and let me know if you have an option that says "graphics options"?
