Question

I am a retired person who just bought a new Gateway computer with windows 7. It has a microsoft office trial packAGE. i REALLY DON'T NEED IT. I do receive power point presentations and have used the free viewer that you so kindly offer. I downloaded [according to the computer succesfully] the viewer and filed in my documents. However, I am not able to use it. Whenever I try to open a pps document the trial window comes up and asks for a product key which, of course I do not have. Is there a way to get the viewer or have you changed your policies and I am forced to buy the entire suite that I don't need? Thank you. Jorge C Valls

Answer

hello sir

thank you for the info.

of course, you don't need to buy it if you don't want to.

please go to your control panel.

and go to your programs section

from the list, select microsoft office 2007, and unistall it.

in short, please uninstall your microsoft office 2007 trial edition from your computer.

when done, you can open your PPS files with your viewer. to do is, you need to associate your pps files to be opened by powerpoint viewer. you do it only one time.

how to associate it?

just right click on your PPS file, and select OPEN WITH

and then select CHOOSE PROGRAM

it will list you some programs. from the list, select MICROSOFT POWERPOINT VIEWER 2007

you will also see a checkbox, which says "always use this program to open this kind of file" please check it too (put a tick) and press ok

that's it. from now on, when you double click on your pps or ppt files, powerpoint viewer will open them.

i hope that helps,

if you need to ask questions, or if this does not help for any reason, just hit "reply" and i will be happy to assist your further

Regards
