Question

I sent in this question yesterday and still have not received an answer. Our isp has asked us to change our external mac address on our linksys router, I have no idea how to do this and haven't even heard of an external mac address. Can you help?

I sent in this question yesterday, I suspect I made an error when registering my email address and therefore never received an answer. My question is how do you change the external mac address on a linksys modem? Our isp provider has asked us to do this and I have no idea what this is let alone how to do it.

Accepted Answer

The linksys routers and modem setups are basically uniform.


All you need to do is go to the config page, click on "MAC Address Clone" and enter your other router's MAC address in there.

To login you need to go to http://192.168.1.1

Username can be one of the following:
Administrator
Admin
<blank>

Password can be any of the following:
Administrator
Admin
password
<blank>


Change the MAC to whatever your ISP tells you to change it to.
