Question

I have a 1994 Buick Regal 3.8, and two years ago. to correct a continuing problem. I had a new crankshaft sensor installed to correct a stalling/restart problem - NOW the cars is occasionally stalling again and I just moved to where the temperature is 90 - a local mechanic says the Crankshaft Sensor has been checked and it is ok and that I should replace the cars computer to correct the problem.

The check engine light has been on for three years after a mechanic in Baja California (Mexico) where I was living said to not be concerned about it after he did some work on the car? The computer was diagnosed by the Goodyear Dealer doing diagnostics?

I do not have any diagnostic code It sure does seem weird that the Check Engine Light light is always on - but it has not created any problem that I know of.

Accepted Answer

ok if the mechanic said it need a power train control module (computer) i would do it, mainly because they are difficult to trouble shoot and it make things easier when you can rule that out. nevertheless, it's important to know what code or why the engine light is on so then we can find out if the problem is a sensor, circuit, or computer but if the light is on and no codes are found the problem is definitely the computer, most auto part stores will check the codes for free. good luck. and please accept my answer. thanks T-MAN
