Question

just purchased a 2000 Boxster with 38K miles. The car was well cared for. Last night the engine check light came on, I checked the oil level it seems it is about a quart low could this be the issue? I have never owned a Porsche before love the ride but know little of the mechanics.

Hello XXXXXXXXX, it is common for this engine to leak some oil and even burn it. I would get the vehicle in the air and have it checked for leaks. As for the check engine light most of the time this will not be caused by low oil. If the light is still on then you need to have the computer scanned for codes. You can have this done for free at most auto parts stores. Come back here with the codes and I can let you know what is going on.
