Hello, XXXXXXXXXX
Typically Frontline is the best product to use. If it is not doing the trick for you, I suggest Capstar or Revolution. Both are very good high quality flea products.
Also make sure you are treating the environment too. Treating the pet and not the home, will cause a reoccuring cycle. A very good home spray to use on carpets, furniture, etc, is called Knockout by Virbac. Some vets will carry it in office and it is easily found online.
Also putting a flea collar in your vacuum bag is a great way to get a grip on the problem too. This way they die in the vacuum instead of crawling out back in the home.

He's a very long and thick haired ginger coon type and seems to be very susceptible to ticks. We pull them off him daily, but sometimes they appear to be bleeding him badly.
I have not found any home infestaion and my husband in very sensitive. Being so cool and rainy in Maine this spring it appears we have a larger than usual problem. A cleck at the pet store said that frontline was not preforming well this season. Have you heard anything like that?
No I have never heard that. If ticks are a problem, then go with the Revolution. Capstar treats fleas only.
Also with a long haired cat like yours, make sure you part the hair and get the medication on the skin. Getting it rubbed in the fur will not do much good.
