my 28 year old husband has a small white patch on his middle back part of the tongue. He tried brushing it of when brushing his teeth. Only half came off the rest is still there. He said its been there for a couple weeks but he never took the time to look at it until yesterday. Right above the patch on the roof of his mouth has been kind of itchy. no other spots in his mouth so far. what could it be?

I think he is having an oral thrush or mouth candidiasis.t is fungal infection that can occur when you have a weak immune system.Nystatin Drops or rinses are used but as these are not available over the counter .Also your liver should be functioning normally when these drugs are taken (as they affect liver) so its better to see your physician .

why do you think it is oral thrush? He hasnt gotten sick in a while. He does have a low immune system but it has actually seemed stronger as of late. are there any other symptoms we could look for? I heard peroxid or baking soda was used as a mouth wash for thrush. Do you consider those affective?

Since I have not examined the area but just depending upon the symptoms prescrbed uptill now it is strongly resembling a Thrush.Baking soda is of little value in treatment because it does not remove thrush but it just help in reviving the normal flora of mouth.

what about chorophil?

Never prescribed it so have no idea.But some people reported recovery after its use.Its upto you if you want to give a try probably there is no harm as its plant in origin.
