Question

I'm trying to download Skype and I keep getting error code 1618 that says something else is installing and I have to wait for it to finish. However, nothing else is installing (as far as I can tell). Any ideas on how to fix (Skype site is no help)?

Answer

hello sir

please use this link to download skype

http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-msi

there are two options when you want to download skype

1) web installer

2) offline installer

i gave you the offline installer. its filesize is 21 MB. just click on the link i have given above, and download it on your "desktop"

when you got it, please double click on it (run) and start installation.

this will install skype on your computer, without problems.

i hope that helps,

This didn't help. I downloaded the install to my desktop; when I ran it I got the error message: "Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one." It there some way I can "clear" whatever is causing the conflict?

Accepted Answer

hi sir,

you can just restart your computer and any running installations will be cleared from the memory.

when you come back to windows, try to reinstall.

I've restarted the computer and the same error message occurs when I try to install Skype from the desktop: "Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."

In spite of the error messages I keep receiving, it appears that Skype did indeed install. Thanks.
